Law 84/94
Therefore,
following the promulgation of the law reform of the port, Multi Service
was the only port company in Italy on the same level as other port
authorities, and so with its papers in order to assert itself, in all
effect, within the role of a terminal with the Port Authority allowing
the company to initially operate in the Isonzo di Venezia - Marittima
Quay and Friuli Quay and Cadore di Marghera Quay, as a result of the
delayed completion date of Sali Pier in Marghera.
And so, from the 15 May 1995 Multi Service firmly began its adventure as
a port company but the afore mentioned date did not represent a trauma
for the company since far-sighted management and company polities had
excellently prepared all the elements which form the company and had
ensured Multi Service was in order with reform laws and market.
On the 1 July 1997 Multi Service were issued with "the authorization to
perform port activities" for third parties in the quays and areas agreed
on state property, to develop the activity of a terminal company; on the
1 January 2000 Multi Service was granted the bond of maritime state
property as per Art. 18 Law 28.1.1994 no. 84, with relative
authorisation as per Art. 16, pursuant to Order 73 from 1999, with a
duration of 25 years to operate in the terminal known as Sali Pier in
Porto Marghera.
From the beginning, Multi Service pursued an investment policy aimed on
the one hand at providing excellent services, while on the other, not
disturbing the existing equilibrium, to the acquisition of new traffic
trends on other national and international ports, and all of this
starting from a firm base and taking example from the misfortune of
Venice Port in the 70's and 80's. A series of alternative ports of call
were developed; as a result, the efficiency that returned to the port
reported important quantities of goods thanks to the central position of
our port and its productive hinterland.
Just to give an example, around the restricted area initially granted to
Multi Service in Marghera, limited traffic was developed during the
public management years, with private management showing a ten-fold
increase.
During the commercial liberalisation of the port, Multi Service began an
original resource development and adaptation process, obtaining ISO 9002
certification on the 20 October 2000 from DET NORSKE VERITAS and is in
the process of obtaining ISO 14000 certification.
